Myths, folklore & symbolism

"The eightpointed star is a very old symbol for 41a07, the planet Venus. See 2911 in Group 29 for the reason behind that. It is hardly used in any of the established Western ideographic systems, but is, on the other hand, very common as a Christmas star or the star of Bethlehem."

  1. We use it in ourknitting ,and when making the breastplates to the bunads.Very interesting what you write!

  2. I have seen it in the weavings made by my great-grandfather's sisters - they were from Jolster in Sogn.

    I noticed the handmade bunad on your blog - very lovely! I wish I could afford a bunad for myself, but they're very expensive!
