Myths, Folklore, and Symbolism

Myths, Folklore, and Symbolism

Epona "The Gaulish name of the Celtic horse goddess, widely worshipped in the ancient Celtic world. She became known to the Romans, probably through Gauls in the Roman cavalry, and was the only Celtic deity granted the honour of a Roman festival, celebrated on December 18. Epona was also associated with water, fertility and death, suggesting a connection with Celtic earth mother goddesses." (Tresidder)
