Myths, Folklore, and Symbolism: Periwinkle

Periwinkle: "A creeping perennial indigenous to southern and central Europe, it has leathery, evergreen leaves and blue blossoms. Like all evergreen plants, it represents eternal life and fidelity; it was also valued as a protection against witches and magicians." (Herder)

  1. I had no idea a periwinkle was an evergreen, and that it represented eternal life. This is a wonderful post, I'll plant a bunch of periwinkle on Halloween! :D

  2. If I remember one of the crayons in the box of 64 Crayolas was a periwinkle. I think one of my girls has a box of 64... I will investigate!
