Myths, Folklore, and Symbolism: Flag

Flag: "It is a symbol of sovereignty as well as of national or group allegiance. In war it signifies military honor and fidelity, which are to be defended with the sacrifice of one's own life if necessary. The fluttering flag often represents starting out or the power to create future change. In the symbolism of Christian art, Christ or the Lamb carries the flag as a sign of resurrection and of the victory over the powers of darkness." (Herder)

Happy Constitution Day to Norway

Also, here's my travelogue from our trip to Norway in 2004 - we were lucky enough to be in Oslo on syttende mai.
