Myths, Folklore & Symbolism: Mallow

Mallow "Any variety of herbs of the family Malvaceae (including cotton, okra, hollyhock, hibiscus) of the northern temperate zone, they were used as medicaments. Since antiquity, the leaves of the mallow were seen as signifying a plea for forgiveness; in Christian art the mallow sometimes appears in this sense." (Herder)
