Norwegian Folktales by Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Moe, more for the pictures than the stories this time around. I'm so impressed by Erik Werenskiold's drawings - there's not many out on the Internet, so do yourself a favor and get a hold of this
book. His portrayal of rural Norway, and the fantastic beasts that populate it along with the regular folk, is gentle and real.
I've discovered I also like his paintings - particularly this one. Reminds me of some of Waterhouse's more impressionistic work.

Really, do yourself a favor, and seek out this book.
